Well, you've found yourself on my website! I suppose the first place to start is to introduce myself and let you know all about me. My name is Bry and I’m a mumma! My favourite colour is blue but I have no idea why. Ever since pregnancy and giving birth, I definitely prefer veggie meals and I now cannot tolerate spice but Wagamamas chilli squid will always have my heart! My favourite drink is boring but probably sparkling water. Oh, lets not forget I’m obsessed with milk ever since being pregnant - apparently its a baby boy thing aaaaaaand i'm obsessed with christmas. My dad actually uses it as my middle name in December.

Hi Mumma!

Bryony Prior

I have cystic fibrosis, which is a life-limiting condition that primarily affects the lungs.  I had my first biological miracle bubba last year and I’m a pre and postnatal personal trainer. My other career is a musician. I play the French horn and have been known to jazz sing.

My experience of pregnancy was pretty smooth sailing other than some morning sickness and pelvic pain. I count myself lucky and empathise with all those who had a challenging one. Despite this, my birth definitely didn't go as expected.. does it ever? Whilst processing the quick turn around from an umedicated labour to ending up in theatre last minute, I found the mental challenges with this more difficult than the physical ones.

Motivation

After a miracle drug called Kaftrio, falling pregnant was surprisingly easy and came with more mental challenges than physical. From accepting your entire life that, as a cfer, you may not live long enough to have a family, to assuming you didn’t want children and suddenly having to bring up a bundle of joy with people saying ‘you were born to do this’ is overwhelming to say the least.

I suppose I was pretty naive to post-partum and it hit me like a tonne of bricks physically and mentally. I found, through no fault of the NHS, the postnatal aftercare was far and few between. A quick 6 week check and being scoffed at for not wanting to go back on birth control, I felt rather left in the dark. Being a personal trainer, I thought it would be easy to get back into fitness, but even having all the knowledge, it was impossible to take a second to pause and put plans in place. I wanted a more sustainable plan.. a mother’s tick list.

My website was born

Director & Founder

After taking a hypnobirthing course, I landed myself in a whatsapp group with a bunch of, quite frankly, life saving mummies. But the consensus was that the aftercare was out there, if you were willing to pay a fortune.

There were so many elements of post partum that were overwhelming that I wish I had had one place where everything I needed was easy to access and I didn’t have to spend ages looking for help and guidance. Something we definitely don’t have time for as new mums! So I really hope this mothers hub is a lifeline to all mothers!
